This Month’s Program: Perry Field
For those unfamiliar with Perry Field, SSRC operates this satellite facility located in Silver Springs Shores under a lease agreement with the County. Originally an Army Mars Station, Perry Field was active during the Vietnam War and later during the First Gulf War. It was officially decommissioned in 2011.
The site features a single-wide mobile home equipped with multiple operating positions and convenient access to a variety of HF antennas—including two impressive 6,000-foot rhombic antennas. Perry Field stands out as an exceptional contesting station.
During this month’s program, we’ll explore the history, location, available resources, operating rules, and how you can gain access to this remarkable site.
